Car

Dimensions

In order to optimize space, the dimensions of the trunk are required

Additional information

Find the right size

Depth

The minimum depth is measured at the trunk floor

The following applies to trunk lids that slope downwards at a very shallow angle: the depth of the dog crate is the measured dimension minus 25 cm

Width

The narrowest part of the trunk

For this, two measurements are required:

-The floor width of the trunk

-The width at 70cm height

The smallest dimension determines the maximum width of the dog crate

Height

The height of the dog crates are either 65 cm or 68 cm, depending on the size - see article dimensions

The best way to measure the height is from the rear seat with the tailgate closed

Loading sill

If your car has a loading sill (step into the trunk), it may not be possible to open the door of the dog crate

Thus it may be necessary to adapt the dog crate or place a carpet pad in the trunk

Security
A dog crate offers your dog protection while driving. In the event of an accident, the crate prevents the dog from being thrown around in the car and sustaining injuries. Additionally it protects the passengers from possible injuries caused by the dog.
Size
The right size is important, as it has to be large enough for the dog to stand, sit and turn around comfortably but not too large, as this could compromise the dog's protection.
Fastening
The dog crate must be securely fastened in the car to prevent it from slipping in the event of an accident. There are special straps or fastening systems for dog crates that ensure that the crate remains firmly in place.
Ventilation
Sufficient ventilation in the dog crate is important to ensure that your dog gets enough fresh air, especially on longer journeys or in warm weather. The trunk can also be left open in warm temperatures for better air circulation.
Training
Some dogs may feel uncomfortable or anxious in a dog crate, especially if its a new experience for them. It is important to familiarize the dog with the crate slowly and to associate it with positive experiences before using it while driving. A good option is to get the dog used to it outside of the car. To do this, the dog can be fed inside the box wich was placed inside the home. It won't take long and your four-legged friend to love his new crate.
Getting in and out of the car
We recommend using a dog ramp for the car. This car ramp is particularly helpful for young, old and sick dogs, but also for healthy dogs to prevent injuries.
Legal regulations
In some countries or federal states there are legal regulations for the safe transportation of animals in vehicles. You should therefore check the applicable regulations in your region.
